You’re home; now what?

So often, what we hear from new parents is that they get home (or the midwives leave) and they are alone with their new baby, and all the questions rush in: is this normal? What do we do now?

Even if you are experienced with babies, those first days alone as parents with your newborn can feel intimidating and full of questions. And so often, birth givers aren’t seen by a provider until 6 weeks postpartum.

Do you just want someone kind and nonjudgmental to come to your house and answer your questions? Maybe help you strategize about how to get yourself fed and get some rest? Check in on you and make sure you have the information you need?

That’s our specialty!

We can come visit and help you surf the waves of new parenthood. Repeat any information you missed in the hospital (because it was all so rapid-fire, and sometimes the staff didn’t have a chance to get it to you), answer all your questions, reassure you that yes, that thing is normal (or encourage you to call your provider if you are feeling concerned), and help you settle in at home.

Our Welcome Home visits are a focused, non-medical 60-90 minute visit that aims to help you settle in to your new role and get you feeling more comfortable. If you need additional resources, we will refer you to ones we trust. You can book with either Lindsay or Liz, depending on your location, availability, and needs; Lindsay is an experienced birth and postpartum doula, and Liz is a birth doula and board certified lactation consultant. Let us welcome you and your baby home and support you through the transition to parenthood.

Not sure whether it’s right for you? Get in touch and we can help you figure it out!
